Start the new year off with a bang at Fort Macon State Park. We will be ringing in the new year with the help of our three 32-pounder cannons with a special night firing demonstration. The first cannon will be fired promptly at 7:00 pm to coincide with midnight in Greenwich England, the first time zone on Earth that will enter 2015. Following the first cannon shot, there will be a battery firing demonstration where all three of our biggest guns will be shot in succession. We do not do night cannon shoots very often, so don’t miss out on this special opportunity.
Because the cannons shoot across the park road, for safety the park gate will be closed promptly at 6:55 pm and no one will be allowed in or out until the program has concluded around 7:30. Please come early, dressed for the weather, and feel free to bring a small camp chair. As a reminder, alcohol is not permitted in North Carolina’s State Parks.”
The purpose of the organization shall be to maintain an as association of persons interested in the preservation of the memory, the spirit and the physical condition of historic Fort Macon, located on the eastern end of Bogue Banks, within Fort Macon State Park in North Carolina:
