Our Mission:
The Friends of Fort Macon is a park action committee supporting Fort Macon State Park. Our goals are to assist with preserving the fort and the natural beauty of this historic and ecologically significant location on eastern Bogue Banks.
Welcome to The Friends of Fort Macon. In times of diminishing state budgets, The Friends of Fort Macon is an energetic and dedicated organization supplying desperately needed funding for historic Fort Macon. Within the last years, The Friends of Fort Macon have provided funding to refurbish hiking trails, offered free family-friendly entertainment, partnered with the State of North Carolina to secure both Civil War and WW II period cannons, offered educational site tours, and assisted with the purchase of historic artifacts. This has all been accomplished with the support of individuals like you who recognize the significance of Fort Macon State Park and cherish this natural habitat for nesting sea turtles, migrating birds, and other wildlife found along on Bogue Banks.
Our daily winter scheduled tours have changed. Tours are now at 1pm from October 15th – April 14th.
